2010 Audi A5 Sportback

The most distinct feature of the new Audi A5 Sportback is its fast sloping roofline. This is what defines the car designed to pitch against the touring and estate models from rival German marques. Audi designers and engineers have definitely, and impressively, put together a new niche segment in the car market that have awed consumers since the inception of the Sportback.

This coupe cum hatchback looks absolutely stunning especially from front three quarter, sitting on the A4 Avant’s wheelbase but as low and as wide as the A5. It is a smart move from Audi to bring in the most popular engine variant into the Sportback - a two 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo TFSI with 180 hp, into Singapore.

Audi arguably makes the nicest interiors in the automotive industry, and the Sportback cockpit is carried over unchanged from the 2-door version. Rear seating is definitely more spacious as compared to the A5 coupe but it does give an impression that it is supposed to have more leg room. Frameless windows and generous leather trimmings are also a much welcome design feature to exude that premium feel.

All in all, the A5 Sportback offers a package of a sedan but gives the option for those who would love to drive like a coupe. It does have more trunk volume, a much stabler handling and an acceleration that does not compromise even with a longer wheelbase. We adore it.
