Event: Formula Drift Asia, Singapore 2011

Welcome to Formula Drift Asia (Singapore) 2011 held over the 11th and 12th June at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix pit building. We caught some of the drifting action live and thought of sharing some awesome photos here.

"Formula Drift is the first and only sanctioned North American professional championship drifting series, the three dynamic entities led by ESPN STAR SPORTS event management group have formed an exclusive alliance to expand and develop the motorsport of professional drifting in Asia.

Under the searing heat of a typical humid Singapore afternoon, overall temperature could possibly have risen a couple more degrees with the perfect combination of hot cars and race queens!

The drifting competition comprised of a playoff style between competing drifting drivers and eventually crowning the final winner. This year's event attracted drivers from all over Asia, including Japan, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia and the host country. Let's kick off with some loud rubber burning action at the form up area!

Obviously the symphony of sound from the engines, exhausts and screeching tyres were too much for some of the officials to handle...

And they were off! Do not try these stunts on the roads unless you want to attract unnecessary attention.

Some hot actions there as we turn our cameras to the crowd and the machines.

While Daigo Saito won this opening leg of the Formula Drift Series, his other Japanese counterpart, a Formula Drift USA star and judge, Dai Yoshihara, had a larger cause to canvass for support for Relief for Japan. We end off with his outstanding Hollywood-style feat of performing a total of 15 donuts around an event race queen. Kudos to both!
